Ethan Emery
Ethan Emery is a returning Peer Observer and has been a science teacher in Greeley and Denver for the last nine years. He has piloted and taught numerous curricula including Interactions in Physical Science, EarthComm, Integrated Science 1 and 2, and Biology as well as various elective courses. Before becoming a Peer Observer Ethan was teaching at Martin Luther King Jr. Early College where he was a department chair, lead teacher, innovation team member, mentor teacher, technology committee member, and recipient of the Mile High Teacher award.
In addition to his work with students in the classroom, Ethan has held a variety of district level leadership roles. He was a member of the Math/Science Leadership Cadre where he helped plan and facilitate curriculum training for new users. Ethan was also on the assessment development team for high school course assessments and in 2009 he was selected as a Jared Polis Teacher Recognition Award winner for the state of Colorado.
Ethan has been a middle school and high school football coach as well as a head sponsor for school based clubs including Fitness & Weight Training and the MLK Fly Fishing Club. He is an ELA-E certified teacher and has been trained in AVID Science Pathways, Division Of Wildlife Outdoor Instruction, and the National Fly Fishing In Schools Program. Ethan earned his Bachelor’s in Biology with an emphasis in Secondary Education from the University of Northern Colorado where he was awarded with the Education Department Scholar Award in 2001.
